This work was born from a deep fascination with the intensity of sensory experience. Synaesthesia — tasting flavours while painting, catching moments of life’s richness in the air, in time, in fleeting situations — became the starting point for a question: does romance have to mean an encounter with another person? Or can meeting oneself be equally profound — one’s own body, one’s own presence, the touch of air on lips, rain on skin.
The Kiss is a painting about the idea that life has a flavour. That we can savour it — even in the simplest, most ordinary moments of everyday existence.
